The old fixed bookshelving has been replaced by a new design which are easily moved, having wheels and handles.

The programme, part of Lancashire County Council's Library Regenerate Programme, aims to create modern attractive and flexible spaces from which staff can deliver the wide range of services, traditional and new, which meet the needs and expectations of local communities across the county.
 
The new look library has been designed to provide a light, spacious and open environment with 15 computers for the public to use for free including internet access, a youth zone, small meeting area and a public toilet and baby changing facility, to ensure using the library is an enjoyable experience.
